Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day
15. Sep 2025.
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Portugal solemnly marked the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
On this occasion, the Embassy premises were adorned with a greater number of Serbian flags, in addition to the one that proudly flies on the main flagpole every day. In this way, the Embassy paid tribute to the values of unity, freedom, and the national symbols that unite Serbs across the world.
This holiday, established in 2020, commemorates the eternal heroes of the Serbian Army who, on September 15, 1918, began the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front and the liberation of the homeland. In just over 40 days, the Serbian Army advanced nearly 650 kilometres and liberated Belgrade.
The victory of the Serbian Army led to the collapse of two empires and played a decisive role in the final triumph of the Allies in the First World War.
